June 17 : Capgemini is set to deepen its commitment to rugby in India with the return of the second season of HSBC Rugby Premier League this June in Hyderabad. The league will feature both men’s and, for the first time, a women’s competition, marking a significant step towards greater inclusivity and growth of rugby in India.

As the Official Transformation Partner for RPL through 2028, Capgemini continues to play a key role in supporting the long-term development of rugby in India. The organization is helping RPL strengthen the sport’s ecosystem, enabling greater grassroots participation, nurturing player development, and enhancing visibility of rugby in India. The partnership builds on Capgemini’s longstanding global association with rugby and reinforces its continued efforts to cultivate inclusion both on and off the field.
The RPL will feature six men’s franchises – Delhi Redz, Hyderabad Heroes, Kolkata Banga Tigers, Chennai Bulls, Mumbai Dreamers, and Bengaluru Bravehearts. Four women’s franchises – Chennai Bulls, Delhi Redz, Mumbai Dreamers, and Kolkata Banga Tigers – will also join the league. The tournament is scheduled to take place from June 16 to 28 at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad. Matches will be broadcast live on Star Sports and streamed on JioHotstar across India.
Hyderabad’s selection as the host city reflects its growing stature as a hub for premier sporting events, underpinned by robust infrastructure, strong connectivity, and an evolving sports ecosystem. The city’s focus on sports-led development makes it a strategic venue for the next phase of rugby’s growth in India.
Capgemini’s association with Indian Rugby Football Union began in 2022 as ‘Associate Sponsor’ for the National Rugby 7s teams across men’s, women’s, boys’, and girls’ categories. Since then, the partnership has strengthened India’s rugby ecosystem through improved participation, enhanced support systems, and increased visibility for the sport at national and international levels. Women’s rugby in India has also witnessed significant momentum during this period, including qualification for the Asia Rugby Sevens Series and multiple podium finishes across Asian tournaments.
As interest in alternative sports continues to rise across India, the RPL provides an important platform to broaden the country’s sporting landscape beyond traditional formats. Through its ongoing partnership, Capgemini aims to contribute to the development of a future-ready and inclusive sports ecosystem while bringing rugby closer to athletes, fans, and communities nationwide.
