Gurugram, Feb 06: KIIT World School hosted a gender sensitivity training programme organised by the CBSE with the aim of promoting inclusive and respectful behaviour towards students. The session focused on creating awareness around gender, stereotypes, and the importance of building a safe and equitable school environment.

The programme was conducted by experts Dr. Shalini Verma and Tanu Dhillon, who engaged teachers in meaningful discussions on commonly held societal perceptions about boys and girls. They explained how such stereotypes often influence classroom behaviour, expectations, and students’ overall development.

During the session, it was highlighted that an individual’s identity is not defined solely by physical attributes, but also by thoughts, emotions, and personal experiences. Through interactive discussions and short video presentations, teachers were sensitised to key themes such as equality, fair treatment, the impact of upbringing, and discrimination.

Using school-based examples, the facilitators guided teachers on adopting gender-sensitive practices to improve daily interactions with students. Discussions also focused on fostering a school environment where every child feels safe, respected, and equal.

Special emphasis was laid on the use of inclusive language, equitable teaching methods, and ensuring equal participation of students in classrooms. School Principal Neelima Kamrah also participated in the programme, reaffirming the school’s commitment to nurturing an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere.
