The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) through its Research Committee has organised the Academia Meet on 17th May 2024 with Universities / Institutions to facilitate a platform for interaction and knowledge exchange between esteemed academicians to foster research advancements.

The event marked the presence of CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, President, ICAI, CA. Charanjot Singh Nanda, Vice President, ICAI, CA. Hans Raj Chugh, Chairman, Research Committee, ICAI and other Central Council Members, ICAI.

Academicians and researchers from over 35 Universities / Institutions converged to exchange ideas and insights, deliberating on diverse strategies to enhance the research landscape.

On the occasion, CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, President, ICAI said, “In times to come, India will be known as the leader in accounting and auditing services, and the time has come to take a lead in the research that will contribute significantly to the progress of the country. ICAI is actively working towards strengthening research studies spanning a broad spectrum encompassing accounting, assurance, taxation, finance, technology, and business advisory services. These concerted efforts are not only aimed at fortifying our economic landscape but also at positioning India at the forefront of global innovation and progress.”

CA. Charanjot Singh Nanda, Vice-President, ICAI said “Research is the cornerstone of growth. It is the need of the hour to undertake research on various areas like GST, derivatives, swaps, cascading tax taken care of etc. The research work will not only be assessing the current state but also projecting potential avenues for future growth.”

This year ICAI has focus on many areas in the research, major three includes Conducting a study exploring the correlation between increased GDP and improved tax payments aiming to unveil insights into the economic impact for improving tax compliance. Secondly, undertaking a study to compile a “List of Redundant Laws” to support the govt. in building a contemporary legal framework that unlocks value creation across the economy. Lastly, the role of UDIN system has brought a revolutionary change and in times to come the role of UDIN will be there to assess the growth of any district /economy.
