Bhubaneswar, Mar 21: On the second day of the CII Odisha Mining and Construction Equipment Expo (OMCE) 2026, the Government of Odisha reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing value addition in the mining and construction sectors and promoting sustainable industrial growth. Addressing industry stakeholders, Odisha’s Minister for Industries, Technical Education, and Skill Development, Sampad Chandra Swain, emphasized the state’s strategic focus beyond mere mineral extraction to strengthening downstream industries and value-adding processes.
“Odisha is prioritizing not just the extraction of minerals but also value addition in the mining sector. We are achieving sustainable growth even in scarce-resource areas, which holds immense potential for future industrial development,” said Minister Swain.
Organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the three-day OMCE 2026, inaugurated on March 19, marks a significant milestone for the mining and construction ecosystem in Eastern India. The expo has brought together leading industry professionals, policymakers, and technology providers to showcase innovative solutions and explore collaborative opportunities.
Highlighting Odisha’s industrial progress, Minister Swain mentioned that under the current government, foundation stones have been laid for 111 industrial projects, with construction work ongoing in many sectors. He further stressed that rapid infrastructure development is driving demand for advanced mining and construction equipment, stating: “Platforms like CII OMCE provide stakeholders with excellent opportunities for collaboration, exchange of ideas, and exploring new business avenues.”
During the event, Minister Swain engaged in detailed discussions with participating companies, focusing on the future potential of mining and construction equipment in Odisha. He expressed confidence that such platforms would foster long-term growth for both equipment manufacturers and industrial enterprises.
OMCE 2026, spanning 20,000 square meters and attracting over 150 exhibitors and 10,000 business visitors, showcases a wide range of modern technologies and solutions in mining, construction, and infrastructure. In parallel, the Odisha Metal Expo 2026 brought together stakeholders from metals and allied industries, further strengthening industry participation.
The expo will continue for another day, featuring networking opportunities and 150 B2B meetings, aimed at promoting innovation, partnerships, and investment. OMCE 2026 is set to evolve as a premier regional platform, reinforcing Odisha’s position in industrial development and enabling the next phase of growth in the mining and infrastructure sectors through sustainable, technology-driven practices.
