Pune, 16th August 2025: Malaka Spice, Koregaon Park, is all set to celebrate the spirit of freedom with a special Independence Weekend Edition of The Malaka Bazaar – Penang from 15th to 17th August 2025, starting 11:30 AM onwards. This three-day extravaganza will transform the restaurant’s vibrant courtyard into a bustling marketplace inspired by the colours, flavours, and culture of Penang, Malaysia.

The Malaka Bazaar has long been a popular platform for local entrepreneurs, artisans, and creative businesses to showcase their work. For this edition, visitors can expect an eclectic line-up of stalls featuring handcrafted goods, sustainable products, fashion accessories, home décor, and artisanal foods.

Alongside shopping, guests can indulge in Malaka Spice’s special 28th anniversary Malaysian menu, created in collaboration with Chef Gayatri Desai of Ground Up. Inspired by Peranakan and Nyonya traditions — cuisines born from the blending of Chinese, Malay, and Indian influences — the menu features vibrant dishes such as the Rojak Salad with toasted coconut and tamarind dressing, the tangy Asam Laksa with tomato-galangal broth, and the crab-and-shrimp-rich White Laksa.

“The Malaka Bazaar has always been about bringing people together over food, art, and stories,” said Ilvika Chandawarkar, Research and Business Development of Malaka Spice. “This Independence Weekend, we’re taking our guests on a journey to Penang without leaving Pune – a celebration of freedom, culture, and creativity.”
