Bhubaneswar, Oct 8 (UDN): The passing of veteran actor Nana Patekar has evoked tributes from across Odisha, with students in Puri choosing an artistic medium to honour the celebrated actor’s contribution to Indian cinema.
Students of the Sudarsan Sand Art Institute in Puri created a special sand-art animation as a tribute to Nana Patekar, portraying his journey and lasting impact on audiences.
The artwork was created by students Rashmita Maharana, Sonali Aluk and Monalisa Maharana, who reportedly completed the tribute in around 15 minutes.
Sand Art Becomes a Tribute
Through the animation, the young artists sought to capture Nana Patekar’s memorable screen presence, powerful performances and contribution to Indian cinema.
The students described the artwork as a humble expression of their admiration for the actor and a way of remembering his work through Odisha’s distinctive sand-art tradition.
“Through this sand-art animation, we pay our heartfelt tribute to Nana Patekar Ji. His unforgettable performances and immense contribution to Indian cinema will always remain in the hearts of millions,” a student said.

Known for his versatility and intense performances, Nana Patekar carved out a distinctive place in Indian cinema through a career spanning several decades.
For the Puri students, the sand artwork became a symbolic farewell—using creativity and craftsmanship to celebrate the legacy of an actor whose performances touched generations of viewers.
“Nana Patekar Ji will always be remembered through his remarkable films, powerful performances and the unforgettable characters he brought to life,” another student said.
The tribute from Puri adds an artistic touch to the widespread expressions of grief and respect following the veteran actor’s demise.
