IndiGo, India’s preferred airline and one of the world’s fastest-growing carriers, in August 2026 marks 20 years since it began operations in Pune. What began as an early commitment to the city has grown steadily over two decades into one of IndiGo‘s strongest Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets, with the airline continuing to strengthen air connectivity in Pune as demand keeps evolving.
Today, IndiGo operates 55 average daily departures from Pune, connecting the city to 30 destinations, with 83,956 average weekly seats and 407 average weekly departures. The airline’s network from Pune has grown steadily in recent years, with average daily departures rising from 50 in FY24 to 55 in FY26, and destinations served growing from 29 to 31 over the same period. Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Goa, Indore and Raipur are among the routes that have seen strong growth from the city, reflecting sustained demand across business and leisure travel.
This growth reflects a principle that has guided IndiGo since 2006: offering fares that are affordable, flights that are on time, and a courteous, hassle-free travel experience. As customer expectations across India have evolved from seeking affordability alone to wanting wider connectivity and greater convenience, IndiGo has expanded its network, strengthened its digital capabilities and introduced new products, while staying rooted in its low-cost model. This shift has been especially visible in Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets like Pune, where growing aspirations to travel have shaped the airline’s network decisions over the past two decades. Since inception, IndiGo has served more than 880 million customers, and expects to welcome its one billionth customer during FY27, with cities like Pune central to that journey.
With a network including 95+ domestic and 40+ international, IndiGo will continue to invest in its leadership, digital capabilities, infrastructure and fleet to serve a wider range of domestic and international markets, supporting India’s ambition of becoming a major global aviation hub.
