New Delhi, July 14: India’s historic Test victory at Lord’s has received widespread appreciation from the cricketing fraternity, with the BCCI and former legends hailing the women’s team for creating a landmark moment that will inspire generations of players.
The Indian women’s cricket team scripted history by defeating England by 270 runs in the one-off Test at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground, becoming the first women’s team to win a Test match at the prestigious venue.

The BCCI congratulated the team for its remarkable achievement, praising the players’ dedication, confidence, and outstanding teamwork. The board said the memorable triumph reflects the rapid growth and rising stature of women’s cricket in India.
Former India captain Sachin Tendulkar also praised the team’s journey, highlighting the remarkable progress of women’s cricket and describing the Lord’s victory as a proud moment for the sport.
India produced a commanding performance throughout the match, with batters and bowlers contributing equally to the historic win. Yastika Bhatia made history by scoring the first women’s Test century at Lord’s, while Smriti Mandhana played two crucial innings of 83 and 70 runs. Richa Ghosh added valuable runs with an unbeaten half-century, and Kranti Gaud registered the first five-wicket haul in a women’s Test at the iconic ground.
The bowling unit then completed the victory in style, with Sneh Rana taking four wickets and Deepti Sharma claiming two key dismissals as England were bowled out for 186 while chasing a challenging target of 457.
The landmark win marked India’s seventh victory in their last 11 women’s Tests and further highlighted the team’s growing dominance in red-ball cricket.
