APM Terminals Pipavav Strengthens its Gyanjyot Project

Pipavav, Gujarat, July 10: APM Terminals Pipavav has strengthened access to quality education by supporting over 500 students with learning kits comprising school bags and essential study materials under its flagship initiative, Gyanjyot Project. The beneficiaries include students across primary, secondary and higher secondary levels from villages surrounding the port, including Rampara, Bherai, Shiyalbet, Pipavav Dham, Kadiyali and Devpara.

Aiming to encourage school enrolment and retention while ensuring students have the resources needed to begin the academic year with confidence, as part of the enrolment drive, APM Terminals Pipavav has also developed a well-equipped library, a dedicated sanitation block for boys at Rampara High School and RO filtered drinking water facility for the girls at Sanghavi Girls School, Rajula, further strengthening the learning environment.

Education remains a key pillar of APM Terminals Pipavav’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. Through the Gyanjyot Project and complementary programmes such as SPARK, its Mobile Science and Mathematics Laboratory, the company continues to support schools with essential educational infrastructure, including sanitation facilities, safe drinking water, computer laboratories, libraries and learning resource centres. Today, more than 20 schools consisting of above 5000 students across the surrounding communities benefit from these initiatives.

Since its launch in 2016, Project Gyanjyot has helped strengthen the educational ecosystem across villages surrounding the port by improving access to quality education and encouraging higher school enrolment. The initiative has led to significant improvement in academic performance, with secondary school results rising from 61% to 87.5% and higher secondary results reaching 98.5%, reflecting the programme’s sustained impact on learning outcomes.

The programme has also encouraged broader participation in experiential learning, with all project schools now participating in cluster-level school fairs and adopting green school and digital education practices. In addition, APM Terminals Pipavav has strengthened inclusive education by establishing a high-quality computer laboratory for blind and partially blind students at Thordi, enabling better access to technology-enabled learning.

Commenting on the initiative, Girish Aggarwal, Managing Director, APM Terminals Pipavav, said: “Education is the foundation of sustainable community development. At APM Terminals Pipavav, we believe that improving educational outcomes requires a holistic approach that combines access, infrastructure and meaningful learning opportunities.
